Over the years since we began as a therapeutic foster care program, we have seen many of our children adopted by Teaching Parents.
With rare exceptions, these adoptions last - even though the rate of failed adoption is disturbingly high for children with serious emotional and behavioral problems.
We believe that a good measure of this success is due to the kind of support our Teaching Parents receive. Through our Supported Adoption program, adoptive families receive the same intensity and quality of service as do our Teaching Parents. They become part of an extended family of support that covers the expense of specialized treatment and provides ongoing subsidy payments to help cover the true cost of raising a youngster with special needs.
