Teaching Parents are specially trained foster parents who work with the support of a professional team of social workers, counselors and educators to care for challenging youngsters and help them overcome problems that could put them in institutions or hospitals instead of families.
Teaching Parents are both caregivers and teachers. Working at home, they help carry out treatment plans designed to help children learn the skills they need to handle their feelings, to build good relationships with others, to succeed in school, and to be responsible members of a family and community. Teaching Parents receive ongoing training, round-the-clock support, respite care and a solid income in addition to basic foster care expenses.
